Get the GISt: Getting Started with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Learn the basic principles of mapping using geographic information systems (GIS) and make your own map! This workshop will introduce the fundamental skills of geospatial visualization using StoryMaps and ArcGIS online. This is an in-person only workshop at Homer Babbidge Library, room 1137. 

This workshop includes:

  • An overview of the fundamentals of spatial analysis and visualization.
  • A demonstration of StoryMaps JS, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS StoryMaps.
  • Resources for learning more about GIS at UConn.
  • A self-guided tutorial for making maps using ArcGIS Online, and tutorial lab time.
